Central Midlands League Alliance sees Kirton’s unbeaten streak end against Long Bennington and RHP narrowly go down against Clipstone in Nottinghamshire football games
An upset in the Central Midlands League Alliance saw Long Bennington win against previously undefeated Kirton Brickworks 2-0 in the Division One East competition.
Long Bennington inflicted the first defeat of the season on The Brickies in what was a surprising result from the eighth seated team on the table.
Alfie Morley got the away team on the board after 26 minutes before Ollie Bridges added the second nine minutes from the final whistle.
"We got what we deserved from that match," said Kirton Brickworks manager Jamie Birch.
"We were second best to everything and we certainly did not perform like a team at the top of the league.
"Our performance looked like a mid-table side that is just seeing the season out.
"Long Bennington wanted it more and they got a deserved win."
A single goal saw RHP defeated at the YMCA Activity Village in their game against Clipstone in the same league.
The goal which was scored by Ryan Hawley sent the visitors home with three points.
