Norwood Park golfer Madeleine Smith is beaten at the quarter-final stage of the English Amateur competition

Norwood Park golfer Madeleine Smith bowed out at the quarter-final stage of the English Amateur competition after cracking last eight contest.

She was beaten 2&1 by Shivani Karthikeyan of Peterborough Milton who progressed through to the final.

The duo exchanged holes in a brilliant battle throughout as Karthikeyan went two-up on the 12th with a par but a mistake on the 14th allowed Smith back in.

They went down to the 17th with just a hole in it and, despite both swaying right off the tee, Karthikeyan found her ball whereas Smith didn't and was forced to concede as the Peterborough Milton golfer progressed.
