Newark Striders and Newark Athletic Club members earn top finishes over multiple events

Newark Striders had a weekend to remember having collected prizes in the Poppy Run Friskney 10K.

First in the MV60 age category in 46-12 was Noel Henderson, with club mate Peter Davis taking second with a finish time of 47-53.

Gwen Bombroffe was first in the FV60 category in 55-12.

Meanwhile in the Derby ten-mile, Steve Martin was first to finish for Striders in a best of 01-17-15, followed by Steve White in 01-21-25.

Sean Morgan, Sara Webb and Leanda Roddis ran the Rutland Night 10K on Friday and, although it was a bit wet and windy on the dam, they enjoyed the run in the dark.

Morgan and Webb finished in 01-00-39 before Roddis in 01-01-58.

Newark Athletic Club’s juniors were also in action in round three of the Nottinghamshire Mini League Cross Country, this time at Rushcliffe Country Park.

Maisie Mullet was first in the under-11girls’ race.

The results in full were, under-11 girls; Maisie Mullett (1st), Lucy Beardsmore (12th), Evangeline Chrispin (15th); under-11 boys; Edward Macintyre (3rd), Reuben Shivas (5th), Ben Ludlam (13th), Theo Lebeter (17th); under-13 girls; Ana Billanie (15th), Niamh Ford (16th); under-13 boys; Lewis Biggin (13th), Cameron Shivas (24th); under-15 girls; Jasmine Braithwaite (6th), Anna Clarke (11th); under-15 boys; Joseph Monk (7th), Ryley Picker (15th).
