Newark AC men and women teams finish in first place at the second race of the Notts AAA Road Race Summer League series at Holme Pierrepont




The second race of the Notts AAA Road Race Summer League series took place at Holme Pierrepont last Wednesday on a course just over five miles long.

Trish Jackman once again led the female race from the start, finishing nearly two minutes faster than second place.

Team-mate Rebecca Taylor was third with Amber Owens – on her first race back in a long time – in a fantastic fifth place.

Alison Monaghan was eighth with Kim Etherington-Bates 78th and Kate Ludlam 112th.

The women's team were first on the night and sit in first place overall.

Conor Pacey led the way for Newark AC, finishing in third place for the men. He was followed by Tom Marshall (8th), Geoff Gregory (16th), Leigh Marshall (20th), Chris Harrison (32nd), Tim Bagguley (52nd), Andre Has (69th), Rob Lindsay (102nd), Ady Dix (108th), Jason Ludlam (150th), Graham Harper (183rd) and Lee Braithwaite (188th).

The men's team came first on the night and are currently sitting in second place in the league.

The next race takes place at Wollaton Park on June 18.

Elsewhere, William Tucker won the 1,500m at Loughborough Uni in a relaxed 4.10, hitting the front approaching the bell.

Elliot Smith-Rasmussen won the Tracksmith Mile in east London, running on his own after the first 500m. In windy conditions, he achieved a personal best of 4.13.

Lewis Jagger was also celebrating after winning the Grimsby 10k in a time of 30.32.
