Newark Alliance League round-up: AFC Newark hit six of the best in Willie Hall Memorial Trophy first round win




AFC Newark were the day’s highest scorers in the first round of the Willie Hall Memorial Trophy on Sunday.

Having raced into a four-goal half-time lead, Newark beat CK Dons 6-2 thanks to a Joseph Bilton hat-trick, Ryley Thompson’s brace and Luke White.

RHP Sports & Social drew 5-5 at Long Bennington before running out 4-3 winners in a penalty shoot-out.

Chris Wareham (2), Kenan Price, Ethan Walls and Andra Wilson netted for RHP with George Barford, Kieren Myler and Ashley Hallam among the goals for the hosts.

Spot-kicks were also required for Bramley Apple in their tie at Witham Wanderers.

Christian Wilds and James Mayfield scored for Bramley as the teams shared a 2-2 draw before the visitors progressed 6-5 on penalties.

Second-half goals from Roman Carr and Harvey Raynor saw Holy Trinity defeat Newark Town Sunday 3-2.

Tomas Harrison had scored in the first half with Adam Britten and Benjamin Zalewski on target for the visitors.

James Handley and Dominic Kelly claimed a goal in either half as Holy Trinity Reserves beat Newark Town Sunday Reserves 2-0.

Farnsfield Villa won 4-0 at The Duck Reserves with Fraser Bricknell and Oliver Higgins among the scorers.

It was the same scoreline as Trent Albion Reserves won at Skillington Royal Queen. Samuel Buchan bagged a hat-trick with Morgan Bourne also on target.

Winthorpe & Coddington Tigers came from behind to defeat Bleasby 4-3.

Michael Cannon had given the visitors a first-half lead but all the action came in the second half.

Jaden Fell and Charlie Howarth both scored twice for Winthorpe with Gratton and another Cannon goal in reply.

Carlton Price scored a hat-trick as Rose & Crown triumphed 5-2 at The Three Gables.

Adam Boddy and Curtis Price completed their tally with Cody Evans netting for the home team.

A last-minute winner from Zak Argyle saw Walesby complete an excellent comeback to defeat Trent Albion 3-2 in the Premier Division.

Albion raced into a two-goal lead inside the first 15 minutes through Harvey Parker and Owen Sears. But Charles Wormald pulled one back early in the second half before Ryan Mills made it 2-2 with 10 minutes left.

The only game in Division One saw Collingham triumph 5-0 at home to Nobody Inn Athletic with goals from James Evans, Harrison Gomm, Noah Sparrow, Freddie Weeks and Matthew Evans.
