Danny Steele and Dan Canter, of Epic Golden Gloves Boxing Club, are fighting in the Midlands final in Coventry on Sunday
Two fighters from Epic Golden Gloves Boxing Club, Millgate, take to the ring on Sunday to box in the Midlands final in Coventry.
Danny Steele and Dan Canter are both in pursuit of the Midlands belt in their respective age and weight categories.
Steele, who won a landslide unanimous decision last time out, is hoping to build on his East Midlands Class C final win and claim the Midlands belt.
Steele’s trainer of five years, and former winner of the national title in 1994, Esham Pickering said: “He got to the national finals last year and I know he will go all the way this year.
“On paper he has a tough bout, but I am talking about someone who has come so far.
“He has won 11 of his last 13 fights and his skills are really coming along.
“He is fast, intelligent and know’s how to move around.”
Seventeen-year-old Dan Canter, who won on a split decision against Fraiser Morgan, of Chesterfield in his last bout, is also fighting for the Midlands belt.
“We thought Dan won every round in his last fight” said Pickering.
“He’s a lovely kid and he has come a long way.
“I think we will be coming away from Coventry with two Midlands champions on Sunday.”
Steele will face a fighter from Birmingham City ABC, while Canter will go head-to-head against a fighter from Donnington Park ABC.
