Newark AC endurance athletes Ed Buck and Lewis Jagger competed at the British Milers Club grand prix at Loughborough




Newark AC endurance athletes competed at the British Milers Club grand prix at Loughborough on Saturday.

BMC is the highest level of competition in the country alongside national championships.

Ed Buck and Lewis Jagger ran in the 3,000m B and A races. Buck was second in 8min18sec, a personal best of 0.5 seconds. Jagger finished ninth in his race with his time of 8.10 just 0.5 seconds short of his best.

Leigh Marshall took part in the Midlands Masters Athletic Club Track & Field Championships at the Pringles Stadium in Nuneaton on Sunday.

Marshall raced in the 3,000m and with a time of 9.54.26, he took the bronze medal in the V45 category. He'll be next in action at the British Masters Athletic Federation 30k Multi Terrain Championships at the North Downs race on Sunday.

Marcus Chesterton and Rebecca Taylor both made the podium at the Long Bennington Summer Sostice 10k in warm conditions on Friday night.

Chesterton finished third in 34.14 while Taylor was the first lady with a time of 39.03.

Also running was Ben Pearson (4th) in 35.17, Dan Dunnington (5th) in 35.52, Lewis Hopkinson (11th) with 36.42 and Graham Harper in a time of 47.34.

Last Wednesday saw the third of five summer Notts AAA Road Race League take place at Wollaton Hall on another warm evening.

Newark athletes finished first in both the men’s and women’s races.

Buck was first for the men, followed home by Tom Marshall (11th), Geoff Gregory (16th), Leigh Marshall (23rd), Dan Dunnington (24th), Chris Harrison (35th), Rob Lindsay (46th), Tim Bagguley (74th), Adrian Dix (117th), Alex O'Donnel (178th), Ed Eckhard (189th) and Paul Tilley (304th).

In the ladies’ race, Trish Jackman once again comfortably finished in first place followed by Rebecca Taylor (5th), Allison Monaghan (7th) and Kate Ludlam (113th).

In the overall standings, the men’s team are currently second with the ladies’ team in first place.
