A Newark runner has beaten her personal best in back-to-back races.

Amber Owens, 21, who currently lives and competes in America, has shaved 15 seconds off her 3,000m time in under a fortnight.

Last week, competing at Maryland, USA, the Northwest Missouri State University student finished third in her 3,000m indoor race in 10-23-70 — shaving eight seconds off her best.

However, this weekend, the Newark Athletic Club member managed to better her time at the same Maryland track, finishing among the medals again in 10-16-87. Owens finished third in the 3,000m race.
