Flowserve equal Newark Town's record after reaching first round of FA Vase

By Connor Thompson

Newark Flowserve equalled Newark Town's record set in the 2005-06 season as they reached the first round of the FA Vase.

It followed a 5-1 victory over Skegness Town.

The win was made even sweeter for club chairman Gary Clarke, who welcomed a round-high attendance of 341 through the Lowfields turnstile.

The club’s tally was 37 higher than second-placed Worcester City.

In Monday night’s FA Vase draw, Flowserve were pulled out alongside Midland Football League rivals Heather St John’s, who are the only side to avoid defeat this season.

The tie will be played at Lowfields on October 12.

Should Flowserve progress, they will be five victories away from the Wembley final.
