Bingham Rugby Club takes part in NatWest RugbyForce weekend and has asked for your help

A rugby club is taking part in a nationwide programme as it prepares to open its gates to the local community again.

Bingham RUFC is taking part in NatWest RugbyForce 2020, a programme developed in partnership with England Rugby that provides an opportunity for rugby clubs to open their gates to their local communities, team members and volunteers to help make improvements to their clubs ahead of the return of play.

It follows the green light by the Department of Digital, Culture, media and Sport (DCMS) on the Ready4Rugby plan, an adapted non-contact game and O2 Touch.

Bingham, who play at The Pavilion, Brendon Grove, will be welcoming volunteers on Saturday.

Secretary Chris Packer hoped volunteers would roll up their sleeves and help carry out much-needed tidying in readiness for the club’s redevelopment.

“This year, with a planned redevelopment of our facilities, it is a case of tidying up, clearing out and getting the club ready,” he said.

He said it would be great time to build relationships and keep the spirits high at the club.

The RugbyForce weekend will also provide grants ranging from £500 to £3,000, which will be awarded to clubs who need help to renovate their facilities ahead of the new season.

Packer said: “The club will continue to follow government coronavirus guidelines and ensure all activities fall within guidelines present at the time of the event to ensure safety of all participants.”
