Newark Ransome & Marles 1sts were beaten by 48 runs at Ruddington in the South Nottinghamshire Cricket League Division C.
Ruddington posted 152-9 thanks to Muhammad Asif’s 42 and an unbeaten 24 by Haroon Ikram. Bhuvanesh Sankaran was the pick of the Newark attack with figures of 4-36 while Oliver Faulkner (2-40) and Bimal Parambil (2-35) also chipped in.
Although opener Thomas Gregorick was bowled for a five-ball duck, Newark recovered to 28-1 before losing three wickets without score and then slumping to 47-6. Parambil hit 28 off as many balls but Newark’s innings was quickly over once he went at 92-7.
James Evans was left unbeaten on 30 as Newark were all out for 104 in the 32nd over – every Ruddington bowler picked up two wickets while Newark had five batsmen dismissed without scoring.
Newark Ransome & Marles 2nds enjoyed an emphatic eight-wicket success over Ruddington 2nds in Division G.
Tom Hardman led the way with the ball for Newark, taking 4-22 in 10 overs as Ruddington were bowled out for 73 in 36 overs. Puran Koranga took 3-6 in nine overs and Luc Chignell weighed in with 2-23.
Newark opener Sid Sharma made an unbeaten 39 and Jimmy Munroe scored 24 as they eased to 74-2 in less than 18 overs to collect 20 points.
In Division M, the 3rds were beaten by 89 runs against Calverton 3rds. Chasing 221-4, Newark were all out for 132 in less than 30 overs.
Opener Charlie Bateman hit 126 off just 89 balls for Calverton while Jack Baker made 54 as the pair put on 117 for the first wicket. Ethan Charley was the most successful Newark bowler, picking up 2-25 in seven overs.
Newark opener James Haywood hit 57, but his departure with the score at 113-5 prompted a late flurry of wickets as the hosts succumbed to 132 all out despite 29 not out from skipper Jack Neville.
