Newark and Sherwood United Football Club look to hire a replacement manager after parting ways with former Manchester City and Mansfield Town player Jonathan D’Laryea




The search is on for a new manager for Newark and Sherwood United – after the departure of Jonathan D'Laryea.

The step five club, who compete in the United Counties League Premier Division North, parted ways with D'Laryea on Tuesday evening (January 30).

"We have parted company with JD following a run of poor results which did not reach the level we all set out to achieve this season," said club chairman Steff Wright.

"Our vision for the club is to be a beacon of sustainability.

"We want to achieve this while delivering entertaining football that our volunteers and sponsors passionately support.

"Our assistant manager Romaine Graham takes over as interim manager as we look to recruit the manager who will lead the team during an exciting period of growth for the club.

"I have had the pleasure of working with six different managers during my time as football chairman at Lincoln City FC and Newark and Sherwood Utd FC.

"They were all a real pleasure to work with and none of their sides were ever relegated.

"Keith Alexander was my first manager and we twice reached the playoff finals at Cardiff.

"John Schofield took us to the top of League Two and played some Brazil-esque football at Sincil Bank

"Peter Jackson was the gaffer when we hosted the World Cup trophy at Sincil Bank.

"Chris Sutton was my final manager appointment before I hung up my boardroom tie at Lincoln City FC.

"Nathan Arnold was my first manager as Chairman of Newark and Sherwood United.

"Jonathan D’Laryea led us to lifting the Notts senior cup for the first time in our history.

"Who knows who will be next?"

The club won the Nottinghamshire FA county cup last season and groundshare with Collingham Football Club at Station Road.

The successful applicant will inherit a young squad with bags of talent and technical ability. Wright said they are looking for a manager to come in and galvanise the group to get the best out of them.
