Newark Rugby Club games called off for second week

Newark Rugby Club’s first team missed out on league action for the second week running because of the cold weather.

The match away to Old Silhillians was postponed on Friday afternoon because of a frozen pitch and there was little chance of a thaw in time for the Saturday afternoon kick-off.

That match, which will now be played on Saturday, February 25, followed the previous weekend when the match at home to Oadby Wyggs also had to be postponed because of the weather.

The Oadby Wyggs match is now scheduled for Saturday, February 4.

Newark will resume league fixtures after the holidays on Saturday, January 7 against Belgrave at Kelham Road, (kick-off 2.15pm).

The club’s annual president’s match takes place on the traditional date of Boxing Day, (kick-off 12pm) at Kelham Road.
