Newark Town go 15 unbeaten at home as they turn the YMCA Newark and Sherwood Activity Village into the blue fortress after defeating top five team Kirby Muxloe 4-0.




The YMCA Activity Village, home to Newark Town Football Club is becoming known as The Blue Fortress after Luke Parsons’ men won again — extending their unbeaten streak to 15 matches.

For the second match in a row, The Blues defeated play-off contenders convincingly, this time it was against Kirby Muxloe, a team they defeated 4-0.

The Blues got two goals on either side of the break in a strong performance against the visitors in the United Counties League Division One.

A crowd of 141 turned up to watch the game.

Sam Wright got the ball rolling in the 38th minute where he dealt with a poor tackle from the opposition defence before outpacing several defenders.

He fired the ball in with the Kirby Muxloe keeper well and truly beaten.

Captain Lewis Chambers doubled the lead in the dying stages of the first-half after a penalty was awarded and he converted from the spot.

Kirby were reduced to ten men after one of their players allegedly abused the referee.

The second-half saw the game proceed much like the first with a resurgence late in the game.

Ryan Smith beat the offside trap in the 92nd minute to make it 3-0 before fellow substitute Elliot King put in the fourth goal for the royal finale.

"We couldn't have asked for a better week," said manager Luke Parsons.

"We achieved two wins and two clean sheets against two top-five sides.

"We have made the YMCA into a fortress and that's a huge credit to the performance of the lads, and the fans who give us such a great atmosphere."

The Blues will now head to Sandiacre Town on Saturday (kick-off 3pm) for their next fixture.
