Newark's Wintec Racing sidecar duo go four from four at Mallory Park in FSRA Wintec F1 Pre-Injection Sidecar championship
Newark sidecar duo Simon Horton and Jordan Forrest put in one of their best performances yet to seal four wins from four at Mallory Park.
Driver Horton and passenger Forrest, of Wintec Racing, further extended their lead at the top of the FSRA Wintec F1 Pre-Injection Sidecar championship.
Round three was due to take place at Anglesey last month but had to be cancelled because of the Welsh covid rules; so it had been a long wait for round four where the teams headed back to the Leicestershire circuit.
After completing their qualifying in seventh in the mixed grid and first in their class, Horton and Forrest got off to a speedy start in the first of four races, settling into fourth place overall and first in class.
They maintained their position throughout the five lap affair to take their first win of the weekend. They also record their fastest lap of the weekend in a time of 59.22s.
Race two was going well for the pair until a red flag halted proceedings, with a result declared on positions on lap five. Horton/Forrest were awarded fifth overall and again secured the win in their class.
After a pre-race warm up on Sunday morning, Horton/Forrest lined up for the start of their third race which was run over ten laps.
They finished sixth overall but that didn’t affect their lead in their own class and they won their third race with ease.
Taking their position on the grid for the start of their final race, Horton/Forrest were fifth on lap four and held a strong lead in their own class.
When Wright/Bailey dropped out on lap seven the team was promoted back to an overall fourth place which they easily held to the chequered flag and, after totally dominating the Pre-Injection F1 class, they celebrated their fourth win of the weekend.
Horton said: “What a weekend — winning all four races and extended our lead in the championship.”
Passenger Forrest said: “The weekend was great, with some awesome racing; the bike was running great and a few tweaks each race saw us getting quicker and smoother all the time.”
Wintec Racing return in three weeks’ time for round five at Cadwell Park.
