By Advertiser Reporter

Two former Newark juniors have been selected in the England under-20s squad for the forthcoming Six Nations Championship.

Forward Joe Hayes and back Jordan Olowofela were both involved at mini and youth groups during their development at Newark.

They have since continued their development at the Leicester Tigers academy,

The pair were selected as part of the 32-player elite performance squad, who will also feature at the World Rugby U20 Championship in May.

England open their Under-20 Six Nations campaign against Italy on February 2 before a home game against Wales in Newcastle a week later.

They then play Scotland in Edinburgh February 23, France in Beziers on March 9 and will end their campaign against Ireland at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry on March 16.

The squad have come together for a training camp at Bisham Abbey Sports Centre this week before the start of the competition.

Head coach Steve Bates said: “By naming the squad in January we’ve been able to pick players who have been performing well in the first half of the season.

“We have some injury issues but I think we have got a really exciting squad with players who have played a good amount of rugby.”
