Josh Barlow has been appointed as Southwell Rugby Club's new head coach for the 2019-20 season
Southwell Rugby Club has appointed Josh Barlow as it’s new head coach.
Barlow, who holds an RFU Level 3 Advanced Coaching Award, is currently employed at an independent boarding school.
Prior to this, he worked in Hampshire as an RFU Community Rugby Coach, and boasts a wide range of other experience of coaching at club and county level.
At a recent introductory meeting with senior captains and managers at the Park Lane clubhouse, he explained that the new coaching philosophy will be focusing on three main areas; the empowerment of players, high standards and enjoyment so that both training and playing is fun.
Southwell’s chairman, Andrew Smith, said Barlow had been appointed to lead the development of both skills and fitness at the club going forward.
“I am delighted to welcome Josh to the club and I am very much looking forward to his valued input at both senior and junior levels,” said Smith.
Southwell were relegated to the Midlands Three division last season, and Barlow said he would let the players pick the seasons target, as part of his empowerment of players philosophy.
The club begins preseason on July 2.
