Under-18s can visit Southwell Racecourse for free on Bank Holiday Monday, as part of British Racing's campaign

By Connor Thompson

Under-18s have the chance to have a day at the races for free at Southwell Racecourse on Bank Holiday Monday.

The Under-18 Race Free campaign follows British Racing’s research, which found that 83% of parents feel cost prohibits children from participating in outdoor activities.

The campaign is also part of Nottinghamshire Sports Day, and is fronted by television personality Tess Daly.

The survey results also discovered that:

• 86% of parents wanted their children to spend more time outside during the school holidays.

• 77% of parents have been put off taking their children to live sport as a result of the cost.

• 60% of parents do not take their children to live sport at all.

Under-18s go free with adult tickets to the day, which start at £15.

Visitors to the racecourse can enjoy a multitude of family-friendly activities taking place alongside the horseracing, including the chance to get to know other sports, such as golf and cricket.

Southwell-based race horse trainer Scott Dixon will host an open session on the day.

Guests can register to join by emailing scottdixonracing@hotmail.com or calling 07968 481761.
