England Boxing's Danny Steele settles the score with rematch win over Scotland's Robery Mcnulty

An England Boxing team fighter has settled the score with a win over Scotland’s Robert Mcnulty.

Danny Steele, from Newark, who lost on a split decision to Mcnulty earlier in the year, avenged the decision with a second round stoppage in Scotland.

Steele unloaded accurate shots in the opening round of the return match, wearing his opponent down and, in the second, after forcing a standing count with a left hook, he earned the stoppage with an accumulation of heavy shots.

Trainer Esham Pickering, of Epic Golden Gloves, said: “He was confident travelling up to Scotland and it helped having him fight away from home because there was less pressure on him.

“But he was on a different level and if they were to fight again it would be the same outcome.

“It was one of his worst fights when he lost (the first time) and that definitely motivated him. He’s come on so much.”

Epic Golden Gloves are hosting an action-packed card this evening, which starts at 7.30pm at the Magnus.

Steele is again in action.
