Newark athletes out in force as Newark Athletic Club and Notfast achieve strong results across Nottinghamshire and beyond
Runners from several clubs across the district have been out in force racing in a variety of different events.
Leigh Marshall of Newark Athletic Club finished 12th overall in the ten-mile Buntingford race as part of the British Masters Athletics Federation.
His time of 57-12 earned him a bronze medal in his age group.
Ed Buck was back for Christmas from studying in the USA and came away with a personal best and a win in the Battersea Park Half marathon, running a time of 66-30.
The Cross Country county championships saw Gillian Newbould achieve 20th, and Kim Etheringron-Bates 59th in the women's event.
In the men's, Tom Marshall came eighth overall and achieved a silver in the V35 category.
Leigh Marshall finished 18th, Geoff Gregory came 20th, David Robinson came 23rd, Daniel Williams was 41st, Ady Dix was 52nd, and Tim Bagguley crossed in 56th place.
The men’s team also came away with Bronze medals in the team prizes.
Biscathorpe held the Lincolnshire county champs and the men’s team came away as champions with Gold Medals.
George Hatton had a great race finishing second overall with teammate Marcus Chesterton taking bronze.
Will Tucker finished in seventh.
Leigh Marshall achieved silver in the V40 category and Rob Lindsay came 11th as he achieved bronze in the V40 class.
25 members of Nottfast running club ran in the 5k Parkrun on Saturday morning (January) at five different locations
At Belton House Richard Borrill finished in 27-33, Ann Manley in 29-05 and Karen Borrill completing the NotFast trio at Belton finished in 39-19.
Nick Harrison made a first visit to Epworth Equestrian Parkrun for his 120th outing and finished in 43-20.
In Nottingham, Steve White and Mat Woodward made a first visit to the Forest Rec Parkrun with Steve finishing in 33-34 and Mat finishing in 35-19.
At Newark, Parkrun 18 NotFast members took part in the event.
The first member back was Alan Davidson in a time of 24-56.
Mark Hawkings headed to Heanor in Derbyshire and completed the Shipley Country Parkrun in 39-46.
