Mandie Elson leads the way during successful period for Newark Castle Archers

A string of top results have been recorded by Newark archers.

Mandie Elson, chairman of Newark Castle Archers, is leading the way for the club with pleasing results in national events over an action-packed month for the club.

Elson finished eighth in her first national competition — the Archery GB national clout championship — before following it up with a silver medal (second) at the East Midlands Archery Society clout champs in Derbyshire.

Elson was the only Notts-based archer among a very strong field.

Closer to home, several team-mates attended the Sherwood Archers in Southwell.

Jenson Hardy was first in his category while Arran Coggan, who is Archery GB director of participation at Sherwood, enjoyed his debut event.

Elson returned to action at the National Tassel Clout Championships, scoring six gold end which is no easy task at 125m.

She then joined three Newark club mates at their first indoor comp since February 2020.

They competed at Trackside Archery Club shooting a Portsmouth. Harry Weeks took first in the junior barebow, Elson took first the in the female barebow and Steve Pepper completed the winning hat-trick with gold in the longbow.
