Newark Swimming Club impress with personal bests and medal haul at the 2025 Nottinghamshire ASA County Championships




The 2025 Nottinghamshire ASA County Championships were a phenomenal success for Newark Swimming Club.

The Long Course (Olympic size pool) at Harvey Haddon, Nottingham saw high level competition over three weekends in January and February.

Newark had 13 competing swimmers who qualified via official competitions over the previous year.

Hard work and dedication forged in training led by head coach Adam McIntyre was on display throughout the Championships. Long Course personal bests were achieved in all 37 races qualified for.

Each qualifying team member had their own success with a few notable highlights.

Sasha Romanovskij (10/11yr Male) won bronze in the 100m freestyle and gold in all three (50, 100 & 200m) breaststroke events, placing him as the top 10-year-old breaststroke swimmer in England.

Lucia Chivers (13yr Female) reached 50m freestyle, 100m freestyle and 50m butterfly finals. Her 50m freestyle time ranked her in the top-25 12-year-olds in England and was quick enough to have won silver in the age category above (14yr) and bronze two years above (15yr).

Thomas Ho was the third fastest 17yr male in the 50m butterfly and fourth fastest 17yr male in the 50m freestyle.

Isaac Shaw was ninth fastest 18yr male 50m butterfly and 50m backstroke.

James Forgione (10/11yr male) reached the 50m freestyle final, placing sixth.

Huge personal bests across the team were also achieved by Abbey Hurst-Yates, Amelia Soar, Edith Hodson, Eliza Fahey, Isaac Fahey, James Clarke, Olivia Handley and Ruby Whitehead.

The championships culminated in a fun day of team relays with Newark reaching two finals in the 9/10yr mixed freestyle and medley events.

The club thanked their coaching team and poolside team managers, in particular Paul Mason and Kate Fahey, for assisting the head coach throughout the Championship weekends.
