Balfe Motorsport in good form at Snetterton for British GT Championship media day
Balfe Motorsport showcased a glimpse of what is to come ahead of the 2020 season at the British GT Championship media day.
The test day saw the Newark-based race team take their three McLaren cars for a spin at the Snetterton Circuit in Norfolk.
Over the winter break, Balfe Motorsport said they made an important decision regarding their GT4 challenge for the year.
While rebuilding all three cars over the winter, the team has doubled its presence in the GT4 class of the championship.
The McLaren 570s GT3 returns in the premier class with Shaun Balfe and Rob Bell, who are aiming for championship glory after finishing last year with a win at Donington.
Michael O’Brien and Graham Johnson return in the multi-coloured Motorsport Expo sponsored McLaren, while Mia Flewitt partners Euan Hankey in the Sky TV sponsored Woking challenger, making a full season entry for the first time.
Completing 24 laps within the hour, Balfe and Bell found that their pace was good enough for the fastest time by the end of the session with a best time of 1m and 49seconds on the three mile track.
The time was over a second quicker than the competition.
Balfe Motorsport said they have a consistent base for wet weather running and, with the second fastest time, the figures only strengthened the fact to the competition.
Balfe’s attentions are now focused towards the first two rounds of the British GT Championship, which take place on Easter weekend at Oulton Park in Cheshire.
