South Nottinghamshire Ladies too strong for Woodthorpe as the hockey team win 7-2
Coach Euan Temple said his South Nottingham ladies' hockey side continued to go from strength to strength as they avenged an earlier season defeat against Woodthorpe Ladies.
The last time the two teams met it was all Woodthorpe as they came away with a 5-2 win but this time it was South Notts who got the bragging rights as they won a spectacular game 7-2.
Temple added that the good-natured contest was keenly contested but his side's hard work in training had given them the edge this time around.
"The side has been putting a lot of drills in at training on Unity of Purpose and teamwork," said Temple.
"I was delighted for them to come back after the defeat last time out and they avenged that defeat with a sensational 7-2 win.
"Despite the scoreline, Woodthorpe played well.
"They were pressing hard but we made our chances count when openings presented themselves.
"Every single South Notts player performed to the best of their ability and that combined with outstanding teamwork got the team the victory."
Reliable Evie Bates was again a handful for opposition players as she scored four goals, she was backed up by Becky Humfris who got a brace and a single goal from Gemma Robinson
