Newark Tennis Club goes from strength to strength as they invite new members to consider joining
A Newark sporting institution is going from strength to strength as their numbers have increased year-on-year since covid.
Newark Tennis Club now has around 150 members and offers a myriad of activities for members including cardio tennis, coaching and social events.
The club was founded in 1887 and is expanding after purchasing the land where their facilities are located at the back of the Lily and Stone site.
“We are open to all members of all ages, of all abilities,” said club captain Sara Jackson.
“People can be full playing members, coaching members or they can even just join for social membership.
“There are coaching sessions at the weekend and during week day nights.
“The club has a great junior section and it is something we are expanding,
“We offer weekend, week day and night sessions.
“Members can book to use the courts as well for free through our booking session.
The club was awarded club of the year in Nottinghamshire in 2022 and has done well competitively as well.
The club played the Queen’s Club in Newark which was an excellent occasion and have opened a fourth hard court in the last several years.
There is also planning permission in for new flood lights and they are looking at further developing their club house.
“Now that we own the land, we are looking at improving the club further,” said Jackson.
The club are looking at bringing in other racquet sports in the future including Pickleball.
