Newark Town scrape a 2-2 draw against Radford as they eye promotion in the United Counties League Division One
For the second season in a row, Newark Town have made the play-offs of the United Counties League Division One competition.
Luke Parsons’ side have secured third place in the table and will be looking at an attempt at promotion to take them upto step five.
If successful, The Blues will be in the same competition as Newark and Sherwood United next year, the Premier Division North.
The team scrapped a 2-2 draw against a tough Radford on the road in their last match.
A last minute goal by Jackson Buckthorp secured the draw after Sean Devlin scored earlier in the second-half.
The break saw both sides go into the break tied before Radford pulled ahead.
Lucus Cotterill sustained an injury late in the first-half and had to come off with a suspected dislocated shoulder.
Radford managed to pull ahead once more after Devlin scored before Buckthrop helped Newark Town achieve a point in the table.
“We showed great character to come back twice from a goal down,” said Newark Town manager Luke Parsons.
“There is a never say die attitude with the lads and we scored in the dying stages of the game to get a point.”
Newark Town now sit in third spot in the league and will play Blackstones this weekend, (kick-off 3pm) at the YMCA.
