Southwell first XV win against Ashby as Andy Powell's men win 20-8 and a big loss for Ollerton as they go down to Nottinghamians
Southwell Rugby Club travelled to Ashby and secured a strong 20-8 victory against the home side in the Counties One Midlands East (North) fixture.
Head coach Andy Powell and his team have now achieved three wins in a row and have moved into the top half of the league.
The night fixture saw captain George Machin and Josh Hart return to the back row alongside last week’s try scorer Stefan Dahle-Ortiz.
It was a good win on the road for the side against a tough opposition and will build confidence for their match on Saturday when they are back on the road against Hinckley (kick-off 2.15pm).
The Southwell 3rds stepped up when their opponents Keyworth arrived with only three players due to a communication error.
The Bandits took it in their stride and effectively fielded a team for the opposition as they had the numbers to help.
The combined Keyworth and Bandits team won a narrow 27-26 contest over the home-fielded Bandits.
The 3rds will now travel to Mansfield on Saturday (kick-off 3pm).
Southwell Colts rounded out a productive weekend for the club as they ran out 41-12 winners over Boston.
A solid effort from Bingham 1sts was unable to make it seven wins in a row after they lost narrowly by 22-17 to Mellish.
It was a tough-fought contest that saw Bingham battle valiantly against a strong Mellish 2nd side.
The side will now host Nottingham Casuals on Saturday, (kick-off 2pm).
Ollerton 1sts went down 64-7 against Nottinghamians.
The side will host Paviors on Saturday.
