Joint-manager Craig Roche described Flowserve’s performance as one of the best of the season as they bounced back in style from their first defeat the previous week.

“We were really pleased with the response to the disappointing loss of our unbeaten run the week before. We could not fault the lads,” he said.

“It was a good reaction and one of the best performances for some time in difficult conditions.

“We were well organised, solid from front to back. The difference from the previous week was our link-up play and clinical finishing.”

Striker Elliot King rediscovered his touch in front of goal with a hat-trick.

Roche said: “He has had a difficult few weeks and not been on the scoresheet as much as he normally is.

“But that is the pressure he puts on himself trying to score every week.

“He has been working hard and he got his rewards with the hat-trick.”

Lee Potts gave Flowserve the perfect start, finishing at the back post after good build-up play, to break the deadlock in the opening minutes.

King quickly doubled the home side’s advantage with a fine finish.

Sam Agar made it 3-0, finding the top corner with the outside of his foot.

As Flowserve completely dominated the first period, King netted his second to give the leaders a four-goal half-time cushion.

He completed his treble at the start of the second period after beating the offside trap.

James Cullingworth’s fine late goal capped a good performance to complete the rout.

The win took Flowserve 18 points clear at the top of the Notts Senior League Premier Division, with ten matches remaining.

Roche said the runaway leaders needed 13 points to be sure of the title.

But he warned against complacency, saying: “We need to keep going and keep our good habits.

“We have not won it yet, but we are hoping to get it (the title) tied up as quickly as possible and take any pressure off our backs.
