Newark Town Football Club in Nottinghamshire appoints club captain Lewis Chambers as the new head of its girl’s football section
A football club captain will take the reins of his club’s girl’s section and he will be looking to build on the good work done by his predecessor.
Lewis Chambers was announced as Newark Town’s new lead of the Girls Development Centre at the club.
The project was originally launched by club stalwart Mark Nesbitt several years ago.
Mark died last year and the club have continued his legacy.
Chambers who is the club’s all-time leading goal scorer also runs Lewis’s Football Fun which is an academy that trains young footballers.
Chambers aims to use the academy to help the girl’s section progress further and will be holding a free trial session for girls this Sunday at Sconce and Devon Park between 10.30 and 11.30am.

“Helping to cement the pathway to future teams, Newark Town FC is delighted to announce that First Team Captain, Lewis Chambers, is the new lead of the Girls Development Centre,” said Newark Town vice chairman Sarah Robinson.
“Lewis, who already successfully runs his own business, Lewis's Football Fun, is adding not only the Sunday morning programme to his football portfolio, he has also taken over the club’s Saturday Development Centre.
“Having Lewis on board with his superb football credentials is the icing on the cake for us and will ensure the growth of local Newark football for both young boys and girls.
“Newark Town FC has been instrumental in putting female football on the map in recent years and with the vision and enthusiasm of our much missed friend and colleague, the late Mark Nesbitt, we are confident the Girls Development Centre is in safe hands with Lewis.
“We are excited for the continuing success of female football throughout our club from the youngest to the eldest player and we would encourage anyone interested in getting involved, to do so by reaching out to us.”
