Top-ten finishes for Sharp in Brisca V8 stock car World Final Day at Bradford’s Odsal Stadium
The Brisca V8 stock cars World Final Day was held at Bradford’s Odsal Stadium on Saturday.
First race was the much-anticipated V8 World Final race, drivers having raced all season to accumulate points to gain the best grid position.
Newark’s Dave Sharp, of MDS Racing, had qualified on row ten, midway on the grid for the 20-lap race.
He managed to survive a melee of crashed cars, which caused the race to be stopped, only to be hit by car 117 as they went down the back straight — where both cars slid onto the infield rugby pitch and were not allowed to re-join the race by the marshalls.
With only short space of time the MDS team quickly changed tyres, checked and refuelled the car to get Dave out for the next race.
With the car handling much better he progressed through the field and took ninth place to be in the points.
Racing well, he then finished in the top ten in the next two races once again gaining points.
“The team at Odsal Stadium are making a lot of progress and improving the new track all the time making it a great place to race and also spectate,” said Dave.
“Thanks go to all our supporters for all their help and we hope to see them at Buxton for our next meeting on October 2.”
