Newark Athletic Club compete in British National veteran relays race event

An area running club finished 16th overall in the British national veteran relays which saw runners who are over the age of 35 compete from all over the country.

Newark Running Club saw a great team performance with contributions from Tom Marshall, Geoff Gregory Daniel Williams, Adrian Dix, Chris Harrison, and Tom Newbould.

Tom Marshall ran a strong opening leg, pushing on from the main pack after the opening kilometre and finishing comfortably in under 16 minutes for three miles.

Members of the Newark Triathlon Club came on board and competed for Newark Athletic Club with Daniel Williams taking over from Tom Marshall.

He completed the course in 17-30.

He handed over to Chris Harrison who gained a few places and matched Dan with a similar time around 17:30.

Tom Newbould and Adrian Dix in the latter legs were running mostly alone as is the case in most relay races as the field became more drawn out.

Geoff Gregory brought the team home with his final leg being run in just under 17 minutes.

David Robinson ran a 36-27 10k, — achieving a personal best — at the Gainsborough and Morton 10k, while Alison Monaghan ran 42-53 in the race.
