Newark Town could host Notts County in the Notts FA Senior Cup should they beat Kimberley Miners’ Welfare tonight — Newark Flowserve host Eastwood
The cup, which aims to whittle down the best non-league sides in the county, involves Notts County and Nottingham Forest Under-23s this year.
And, Town boss Luke Parsons said his side were buzzing after drawing Notts County in the quarter-final draw.
However, the player-manager refused to look too far ahead, knowing his side face a tough test in Kimberley Miners’ Welfare, who were leading 3-1 after 60 minutes before fog saw their match abandoned back in January.
He said: “Yeah, it is far to say they were (buzzing with the news).
“It is a let off and now we have got a second bite at the cheery.
“Obviously, they will be disappointed the result didn’t stand last time, but a lot can change in football.
“Who knows what could happen.
“We have always said the cup won’t take priority over the league, but with no game this weekend there is no need to rest anybody.
“We will field the strongest squad we have available. We are in it to win it after all.”
Town’s replayed fixture against Kimberley takes place at the YMCA Activity Village tonight (7.45pm kick off).
Newark Flowserve are to host Eastwood in their quarter-final match, a clash the management will be pleased with given it is a home tie against lower league opposition.
The other two quarter-finals see Carlton Town host Gedling and Teversal host Forest.
All quarter-final ties are to be played on February 18 in a 7.30pm kick off.
Dates are subject to change.
