The first Trent Valley Ultra Marathon, a 50k race organised by Quadrio Events, saw 139 runners take part at Newark
The first Trent Valley Ultra Marathon was a major success on Saturday.
The 50k race, organised by Quadrio Events, brought 139 runners to Newark.
Matt Daly and Henry Brady, both of Worksop Harriers, came in together for first and second place in times of 3hr50min47sec and 3:50.48, with third place going to Andy Goddard, of York Acorn RC, in 3:59.36.
The female category was won by Hannah Cooke, of TFN Tri Club, in 4:27.29. Second place went to Jenny Jackson in 4:38.38, and Sarah Richards took third in 4:43.37.
Dan Perry, of the Spider Runners group, took part in his 300th marathon, running alongside daughter Faith, who ran her first ultra despite never running more than a half-marathon before.
The race started and finished at the Milestone Brewery in Cromwell, where a DJ created a party atmosphere, with many runners staying for the rest of the afternoon.
Entries are already open for next year’s race which is due to take place on Saturday May 16. Early-bird rates currently apply.
