Newark Ransome & Marles 1sts’ Raj Mohankumar scored 104 not out as his team completed a seven-wicket win on Saturday.
Mohankumar wasted no time in completing the victory over Gedling Colliery in Division C of the South Notts League.
Craig Drury took 4-24 and Bhuvanesh Sankaran 3-24 as Gedling were restricted to 153 all out, despite opener Tauseef Ahmed’s 43.
Newark lost skipper Tom Quinton to the first ball of their reply but Sid Sharma (28) joined Mohankumar and Matthew Evans then weighed in with 21.
But Mohankumar was the star of the show, his 104 not out coming off just 81 balls and featuring five sixes and 15 fours as Newark raced to 156-3 in 26 overs.
In Division H, the 2nds lost by three wickets against Whatton and Aslockton 1sts.
After slipping to 44-5, Newark were indebted to 38 from Munish Manocha to help them post a respectable total of 127-9 in 40 overs with Simon Silverwood (3-26) the pick of the bowlers.
Whatton put on 74 for the first wicket thanks to 57 by Adrian Curzon and while Manocha (2-14), Puran Singh Koranga (2-35) and Reuben Straker (2-4) checked their progress, they eased to 130-7 in the 26th over.
In Division M, the 3rds had no response to Wollaton 4ths’ imposing total of 271-2 in just 32 overs.
Opener James O’Brien scored 92 not out and Syed Ahmed hit 76 not out off just 30 balls for Wollaton, with Ryan Walker and Indy Rock picking up a wicket apiece for Newark.
In reply, openers Lucas Head (20) and Jenson Allman-Wright (14) put on 42 for the first wicket. But they then slipped to 80 all out with only 18 from captain Jack Neville providing any resistance.
Rafey Muhammad was the pick of the bowlers with 5-13 in just five overs.
