Southwell Rugby Club under-10s to contest Leicester Tigers Prima Cup Finals Day at Mattioli Woods, Welford Road

It will be an exciting weekend for the Southwell Rugby Club under-10s and one they are unlikely to forget soon as they travel to play in the Prima Cup Finals Day at Mattioli Woods, Welford Road, on Saturday.

The day will see the team play four matches as they look to both showcase their skills and exhibit rugby values on the pitch.
It will be a great opportunity for the young side and others to participate in a competition that is run by the Leicester Tigers.

Attracting more than 70 entries each season, the Prima Tiger Cup is the largest and most prestigious single-age playing opportunity in the rugby calendar.
There has also been a lot of action in the adult rugby across the district.

The Southwell 1st XV lost a close game to Loughborough as they went down 31-22.
It was a tight game that saw a good Loughborough side edge out Andy Powell’s men.

The side will next travel to Ilkeston on Saturday to play their next fixture (Kick-off: 3pm).

Nottingham Medics had a walkover win over the Southwell 2nds in their scheduled match.

The 2nds will go on to play Paviors at home on Saturday (Kick-off: 3pm).

The Bandits, Southwell’s 3rd side were beaten 43-7 in a tough match despite putting in a good shift. They now take on Paviors Horns on Saturday at home (Kick-off: 3pm).

Bingham’s 1sts have had a bit of a break lately but will be back in action this weekend as they travel to Mansfield on Friday (Kick-off: 7.30pm).
The side will be hoping to continue their winning ways after a dominant 75-10 performance over Nottingham Casuals.

Ollerton Rugby Club lost 20-19 away to Worksop in a tight contest that went down to the narrowest of margins.

Poor discipline effectively cost Ollerton the game with the penalty count up well into the twenties.

Try scorers were outside centre Johnny Brannan (2) and prop Liam Tebbett.

David Wilson was awarded the man-of-the-match accolade for his performance.

The club will be hosting a charity golf day in July, interested parties should reach out to the club on their Facebook page where more information is available.
