Newark Amateur Operatic Society prepare to perform The Addams Family at Robin Hood Theatre, Averham

The Addams Family are set to bring their mayhem and madness to the stage in time for the Halloween season.

Newark Amateur Operatic Society will perform The Addams Family at Robin Hood Theatre, Averham, from Wednesday, October 18, to Saturday, October 22.

It features an original story that’s every father’s nightmare.

Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family — a man her parents have never met.

And if that wasn’t upsetting enough, Wednesday confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he’s never done before — keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia.

Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s “normal” boyfriend and his parents.

Director Justin Day said: “I’m thrilled to have been asked to direct my third show for the society at the Robin Hood Theatre.

“We had great success with both the previous shows and hope we can continue the quality of our shows and another sell-out crowd for this next one

“We hope our audiences will support us again as we perform this show just in time for Halloween which really is a funny, family show with those classic characters and a great set of songs.

“I’m blessed with a great cast and crew again, who have all been busy over the summer rehearsing and also building our scenery, and we are building up to what will be a fantastic show.”

The cast is led by society newcomer James Fry, playing the iconic Gomez.

Alongside him is society regular Natasha Wade, who played the lead female role of Mollie in Ghost The Musical, Maureen in Rent, and one of the Divas in Priscilla, Queen Of The Desert. The rest of the Addams family is made up of Lucy Brown as Wednesday, William Dewick as Fester, Roseann Edis as Pugsley and Sarah Chrimes as Grandma.

The family butler, Lurch, is played by long-time society member Nick Oliver.

Wednesday’s love-interest, Lucas Beineke, is played by Ollie Kirkwood in his third show with the society, and his parents, Mal and Alice, are played by society vice-chaiman Mike Follen and Jade Mulligan, in her first principal role with the society.

They are supported by the ghostly ancestors who are played by Dawn Stubbs, Tony Valentine, Scarlett Follen, Katy Stafford, Rebecca Leggott. Lucy Dale and Rob Hughes.
