AWARD-WINNING artist Ed Chapman is showcasing his new work at a Nottingham art gallery until Tuesday.

The mosaic artist is exhibiting his new portrait of Jimi Hendrix — constructed entirely out of coloured fragments of record vinyl — at George Thornton Art in Flying Horse Walk.

The gallery is the only location in the world that will be selling Ed’s new vinyl work.

Owner George said: “I’m really excited to be the only gallery in the world to exhibit Ed’s new style of work.

“It’s such a great opportunity for the gallery and shows that Nottingham can showcase experimental and contemporary work as well as the big cities like London and Manchester.”

Ed’s last Hendrix mosaic, constructed from Fender plectrums, was auctioned for £23,000 in 2011 and is one of the highest priced mosaics ever sold.

The portrait is on sale for £6,000.
