Newark Choral Society to hold farewell concert for musical director Roger Bryan
A farewell concert is to be held on Thursday for Newark Choral Society’s long-standing musical director.
Roger Bryan, who was part of the re-establishment of the society in 1995, is leaving the area to be nearer family in Cheshire.
To say goodbye, Newark Choral Society is performing the concert, followed by light refreshments, at Barnbygate Methodist Church.
When the society relaunched in September rehearsals began with Faure’s Requiem and Vivaldi’s Gloria in D. These will be the two works for the concert.
It will be a free event for friends, relatives, past members, previous soloists and audience members with a retiring collection.
Michael Wilson, chairman said: “Roger is an extremely fine choral conductor and I know that many of us have appreciated his skills and musicianship. I hope you will be able to join us on the evening, which I know will be full of mixed emotions.”
