What’s on in October at Palace Theatre, Newark
October is a bumper month of entertainment at Newark’s Palace Theatre — notably with the arrival of Willy Russell’s smash-hit West End show Blood Brothers on Tuesday 22, which will run from October 22-26.
Written by Willy Russell, the musical tells the captivating and moving tale of twins who, separated at birth, grow up on opposite sides of the tracks, only to meet again with fateful consequences.
Vivienne Carlyle is returning to the iconic role of Mrs. Johnstone, having received nightly standing ovations for her powerful and poignant performance in the West End production.
Sean Jones and Joe Sleight also return to the production as twins Mickey and Eddie, with Gemma Brodrick reprising the role of Linda.
Bill Kenwright Ltd’s production has surpassed 10,000 performances in London’s West End — one of only three musicals ever to achieve that milestone.
The superb score includes Bright New Day, Marilyn Monroe and the emotionally charged hit Tell Me It’s Not True.
But the month starts with the return of Barry Steele with the Roy Orbison Story tomorrow (October 3).
Join Barry on a musical journey celebrating the rock n roll hall of fame and six-time Grammy award winning “Big O” and the collective genius of The Traveling Wilburys.
Next up is Anything For Love — The Meatloaf Story featuring the hugely popular Newark performer Steve Steinman, on October 4.
With his live band, he will perform more than 25 of Meat Loaf and Jim Steinman’s greatest hits.
The annual Wolfit Lecture is on Sunday. This year, celebrated actress Claire Bloom will be in conversation with Richard Digby Day.
That is followed by The Sound Of Springsteen, celebrating the legendary music of The Boss on October 9.
It is a show that brings his iconic sound to life,from Greetings from Asbury Park to 2020's Ghosts via the legendary hits Born In The USA and Born To Run.
The ever-popular Newark and Sherwood Concert Band is back on October 12 with their annual rousing concert.
Then there is the chance to hear Ignas Maknickas on piano on the 17th before experiencing the magic of the musicals like never before in Musicals Sing-A-Long on the 18th.
Finally, on October 31 there is Buddy Holly and The Cricketers, which promises to have everyone singing along.
