Capturing the mood of landscapes

An exhibition of landscape photographs called Moods by award-winning photographer Pete Bridgwood can be seen in the Patchings Art Centre, Calverton, until September 19.

His journey from winning Amateur Photographer of the Year in 2007 has been quite an adventure.

Pete, who lives in Southwell, has been shortlisted for Landscape Photographer of the Year three times.

Now he is establishing a reputation as one of the country’s leading landscape photographers.

He has had images exhibited at the National Theatre and the Camera Club on London’s Southbank.

He said: “With Moods I am searching for the Holy Grail of landscape photography — that elusive component, emotion.

“Sometimes when you’re out there in the landscape, you can feel the emotion that’s wrapped up in a place.

“It’s as though the place has its own soul, and it’s these emotive elements that landscape photographers try to capture and carry through to the final image. It’s all about capturing the mood.”

His last exhibition at Patchings was called Minimal, and featured a selection of landscape photographs underlying simplicity.

His first solo exhibition was at Southwell Minster.
