Cellist Abel Selaocoe gives online performance for Lakeside Arts Centre and the Royal Centre, Nottingham
South African cellist Abel Selaocoe is set to be the latest performer to take his concert online for Lakeside Arts Centre and the Royal Centre, Nottingham.
Selaocoe moves seamlessly between genres and styles, from collaborations with world musicians and beatboxers, to concerto performances and solo classical recitals.
He combines virtuosic performance with improvisation, singing and body percussion, and has a special interest in curating recital programmes that highlight the links between Western and non-Western musical traditions, with view to helping classical music reach a more diverse audience.
In his first appearance at Lakeside, he performs with his ensemble Chesaba and Manchester Collective.
It will be livestreamed on Thursday, March 11, at 7pm, and will then be available to view and watch until Sunday, March 21.
It is a pay-what-you-can performance with a minimum charge of £10.
At present, an online performance by the Manchester Collection, featuring guest soprano Ruby Hughes, is available to book and view.
