City gig hot stuff

With shows packed almost every night from the middle of February for three months I felt lucky to attend Hot Chip’s Rock City gig in Nottingham.

The average age in the packed venue must have been 23, which made me realise that the electro pop sound from the 1980s is being revived with a slightly updated format by the talented five-piece band.

They started with Thieves In The Night from their fourth album, One Life Stand, followed by Hand Me Down Your Love.

The crowd really got going when they started performing some of their past singles, especially Ready For The Floor and Over And Over.

The only criticism I have is that the lead singer Alexis Taylor’s voice got lost in the beginning of the set, but any technical issues were resolved later on — WP.
