Singin' In The Rain dances into Nottingham Royal Concert Hall with West End and Broadway stars
Classic musical Singin’ In The Rain dances its way into Nottingham’s Royal Concert Hall next week with Broadway and West End stars in the iconic leading roles.
The West End musical, produced by Chichester Festival Theatre and Stage Entertainment, is at the venue from Tuesday (July 5) to a week on Saturday.
Based on the classic 1952 film of the same name, it follows the story of Hollywood film star Don Lockwood was has everything he wants — fame, adulation and a well-publicised ‘romance’ with his co-star Lina Lamont — as Hollywood was about to change forever for a world of silent movies to talkies.
Can Don and uniquely-voiced Lina make the transition?
At the same time, chorus girl Kathy Selden is looking to fulfil her dreams of stardom and fall in love.
Taking the role of Don Lockwood is Sam Lips, whose Broadway and US credits have included Cats, Chicago, West, Side Story, On the Town and Seven Brides For Seven Brothers.
Playing aspiring actress Kathy Selde is Charlotte Gooch, who has appeared in Strictly Ballroom and Top Hat in the West End.
This production opened at Chichester Festival Theatre and was extended due to unprecedented public demand, before transferring to London to huge critical acclaim and four Olivier Award nominations.
During it’s run it played to more than 750,000 people, with some leaving the theatre a wetter than they arrived due to the five tonnes of water used during the iconic rain scenes.
