Combining curry with films
After a successful run of five film shows, the Oxton Projection House will return on Saturday, September 1, with two comedy blockbusters.
The first is The Muppets, which was released late last year.
Featuring a star-studded cast including Kermit The Frog and the inimitable Miss Piggy, it appeals to all ages.
With the help of three fans the Muppets reunite to save their old theatre from being redeveloped.
The second film is The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (12A) a highly-acclaimed comedy drama starring Maggie Smith, Judi Dench and Bill Nighy among others.
Released last year, it tells the story of a group of retirees who journey to a newly-refurbished hotel in India, which doesn’t live up to its advertisements.
The guests, however, are eventually won over by its charm.
As an added inducement to enter into the spirit of things children are invited to bring their Muppets with them. The organisers will also sell curry, Naan bread and Indian beer in addition to the usual popcorn, snacks and drinks.
The films will be shown on a large new screen with a good sound system in Oxton Village Hall.
Doors open at 3.30pm with the first film being shown at 4.00pm. Doors open at 6.30pm for the second film which starts at 7.30pm.
Tickets are available in advance from Oxton Village Shop, Ethel Cottee on 0115 9653477 or Roy Walker on 0115 9653595. Tickets on the day will incur an additional cost of £1.
