Sue Townsend’s touching comedy about three housebound, agoraphobic, women is the next production by the Robin Hood Theatre Company.

Bazaar and Rummage, which is set in London, features Gwenda, a volunteer leader of a self-help group for agoraphobics.

She decides that the best therapy for Margaret, a victim of crime, Bell-Bell, a hygiene-obsessed housewife and Katrina, an agoraphobic cabaret singer, is to hold a bazaar and rummage sale at a church hall.

Gwenda, a former agoraphobic herself, is helped by trainee social worker Fliss.

While they sift through the items going on sale, they also sift through the carnage and chaos that parallel their inner turmoil.

Directed by Rachel Repper, the cast comprises Janet Heath, Val Wilson, Melanie Hamilton, Yvonne Cockayne, Louisa Evans and Heather Rees.

It will be staged at the Grove School’s Lilley and Stone site on London Road, Newark, from Wednesday, November 24, to Saturday, November 27, at 7.30pm.

Tickets are available from José King on 01636 704711, Newark Tourist Information Centre, Southwell Library or from www.robinhoodtheatre.co.uk
