Steve Harley and Paul Young's Los Pacaminos headline Gate To Southwell Festival

It may be causing divisions across the country but Europe is set to unite thousands of music-fans at next month’s Gate To Southwell Festival. This year’s event, from June 6 to 9, has a distinct European feel, with bands travelling from all over the continent to take part.

Around 5,000 people are expected to attend the event at the Southwell Racecourse site.

This year’s headliners include Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel, and Los Pacaminos featuring Paul Young —both playing the Gate To Southwell Festival for the first time.

Steve Harley has been recording for more than 40 years and is famous for worldwide hits such as Judy Teen, Mr Soft, Sebastian and ‘Make Me Smile (Come Up And See Me).

Los Pacaminos headlines the Friday night of the festival, which has a wildly western feel thanks to a host of Americana acts.

Paul Young — who has had hits with Wherever I Lay My Hat, Love Of The Common People, and Every Time You Go Away — has been the charismatic front-man of the highly-entertaining Tex-Mex show band Los Pacaminos since 1993.

The continental celebration includes diverse European acts such as Latin sca band Dinamo, Spanish Basque folk dance band Korrontzi, Austria’s acclaimed Hotel Palindrome, the beautiful Dutch harmonies of SYA (Suddenly Years Align) and French-born favourite Flossie Malavialle.

The festival will also be marking the 50th anniversary of Woodstock with a specially created house band plus guests performing iconic songs from the ground-breakingfestival, and Sunjay Brayne will give a tribute to Buddy Holly.

Also on the bill are Sam Kelly and The Lost Boys, Skipinnish, Nancy Kerr, Blue Rose Code, Gordie MacKeeman and His Rhythm Boys, Grace Petrie, accordionist Sarah Savoy, 3 Daft Monkeys — acclaimed as one of the highlights of Glastonbury 2016 by Mark Radcliffe —Otway and Barrett, and Maniere Des Bohemiens.
