AUTHOR Karen Maitland, who is fascinated by medieval myths and history, will be at Collingham Library on Tuesday at 11am to talk about her work.

She will delve into her latest medieval thriller, The Falcons Of Fire And Ice — a chilling story set in 1564 during the murderous inquisition in Portugal and the bloody reformation in Iceland.

Karen, of Lincoln, is inspired by all kinds of artefacts, tools and skills which she tries out to get a feel for the world of her characters. She has written The Gallows Curse, Company Of Liars and The Owl Killers.

The author and winner of the East Midlands Book of the Year Award 2012 for Whispers Of Nemesis, Anne Zouroudi, will visit Newark Library on Wednesday at 7.30pm.

It is part of her extensive tour of the Midlands in the run up to Bloomsbury publishing the last in her Mysteries Of The Greek Detective series: The Feast Of Artemis.
