Farce at its best

In the late 19th Century, Brandon Thomas created a comical, farcical play that is now world renowned — Charley’s Aunt — which will be staged at Lincoln Theatre Royal, from Wednesday, September 8, to Saturday, September 11, at 7.30pm.

Charles and Jack, classic idle aristocrats who spend most of their time lounging around, sponging off the lower orders, are the main focus of the play.

When Charles falls for Amy he needs his aunt’s consent to marry her. Jack is also in love, but he needs Charles’s aunt to act as chaperone to allow him to profess his love to Kitty before she and Amy depart to Scotland, and the fun begins.

It stars Neil Stacy from Duty Free, Ben Roberts from The Bill, Sabina Franklyn from Keep It In The Family and actor Glyn Grain.
