Southwell Minster concert to launch Sothwell Music Festival programme

LEARN MOREA free concert will launch the 2022 Southwell Music Festival programme.
After covid, the festival is back to its full-scale this August, featuring more than 40 live events, from intimate jazz to large-scale symphonic concerts.
To launch the programme, artistic director Marcus Farnsworth and a selection of festival artists will present a free one-hour concert in Southwell Minster on Friday, May 20, from 7.30pm.
It includes a discussion of this year’s festival highlights and will be followed by a drinks reception.

The concert will feature clarinettist Matthew Glendening, who was named Nottingham Young Musician Of The Year in 2015 and was recently appointed principal clarinet at the Royal Opera House.
The concert will also feature performances from violinist Jamie Campbell and baritone Marcus Farnsworth.
Jamie is currently the principal second violin for the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, as well as a guest leader and principal of a number of other high-profile orchestras. Marcus is a former minster head chorister and now an award-winning international baritone.
