Fun drama workshops to improve creativity
Young actors are being given a chance to hone their skills again when the Newark-based Nearly Instant Theatre Session undertakes a series of fun theatre workshops.
The first drama event takes place at the Magnus School, Newark, on Thursday, February 16, and Friday, February 17, from 10am to 3.30pm.
This time Nits Explores London. The children, aged six to 16, will devise their own sketches on the subject, helped by their leaders. They will then be performed in front of family and friends on the Friday at 3pm.
Carolyn Drury, who runs the workshops, said: “The Nearly Instant Theatre Session offers drama workshops and training of all kinds. They are suitable for beginners and experienced performers and are designed to improve creativity and self-confidence as well as teaching performance skills.”
Future sessions at the Magnus School include Nits Gets Artistic on April 4 and 5 and Nits Looks Backstage on June 7 and 8.
At the Guildhall Arts Centre, Grantham, Nits Goes To the Movies on Tuesday and Wednesday, Nits Looks Backstage on April 3 and 4 and Nits Gets Artistic on June 7 and 8.
The theatre session also puts on week-long musical plays. At the Magnus School from July 23 to 27 there will be Spookerama, a comic look at the SuperNitural.
At Bowbridge School, Newark, from August 20 to 24 there is Nits Crosses The Channel. Nits Has A Party will be held at the Guildhall Arts Centre, from July 30 to August 3. At the Tennyson High School, Mablethorpe, the group will stage Nits On The High Seas from April 9 to 13.
